Why haven’t I launched yet?
What’s holding me back?
Does everything need to be perfect before I launch my line?
Am I ever going to be ready to launch?
In this episode of the FastTrack Your Fashion Brand Podcast, I’m with the sisters that imagined Seasalt Kids Swimwear, an eco-friendly brand with the idea of sustainability as the forefront of their values.
They are one of the case studies from the FASTTRACK Fashion Accelerator Program.
And, I think that they’ve had such great success, and I wanted to share their inspirational story with you.
IN THIS EPISODE, YOU WILL HEAR ABOUT
- What was the driving force behind Seasalt Kids Swimwear
- Why they hadn’t launched before the Accelerator Course
- Sometimes being too close to your work
- The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly Side of Influencers
- Learning to Delegate
Sustainability and Eco-Friendly Branding
I don’t know how many times I’ve said this, but as fashion designers, we are problem solvers. Whether we came up with the idea as a frustrated consumer, or we saw that there just wasn’t anything on the market that fit what we needed, we are solving a problem.
Well, Seasalt Kids Swimwear did just that. From seeing plastic on the beach where her children were playing to learning more about plastic in the fashion business, these sisters decided they wanted to create a brand that was sustainable and eco-friendly.
They wanted to know that what their children were wearing was also helping sustain a better, and cleaner future for them! Enter -- Seasalt Kids Swimwear.
Why Haven’t I Launched?
So, when they joined the Accelerator program, they hadn’t launched. And if you have the same problem, pay close attention!
They hadn’t launched their line because they felt that they needed to have all the pieces in place, they were waiting for perfection!
You don’t need to be perfect in order to launch, because like they say “Done is better than perfect.”
Giving Up Control
One of the biggest problems that they ran into during our course was social media. There are so many different platforms, and different marketing campaigns and they were trying to take it all on by themselves.
You need to remember that even though you want to be able to do everything yourself, is it going to be the best use of your time? If not, you need to create a strategy, breakdown tasks, and outsource!
Sometimes, the best thing you can do is empower someone else to do it, remove yourself from the process, and ask yourself, “Am I being the CEO or am I being the employee?”
Social Media Influencers
Influencers... Such an interesting topic of discussion. I receive messages from solicitors all of the time, saying “Hey, your product looks great, I think this will market well to the people I follow. Send me some merch, and I’ll post it to my page.”
Sometimes, it seems too good to be true. They have a great following. And you think, “My product would look great on them.” But, giving away your product doesn’t always meet your standards, and have a great return of interest.
So, you have to be careful. Set clear standards, ensure that what you receive will be worth what you are sending.
Learning to Delegate
You may think that you can or need to do everything yourself. But, one of the most empowering parts of being your own boss, is that you can start hiring on other individuals who have skill sets you require in order to help alleviate some of your stressors. On this week’s FastTrack Your Fashion Brand Podcast episode, the sisters of Seasalt Kids Swimwear talk about how virtual assistants (VAs) can:
- Help save a ton of hours
- Provide skills to complete certain tasks
- Give back some of your time that can be better spent on something else

Meet the Guest
Seasalt Kids was founded by three sisters who wanted to create a premium children’s swimwear brand that empowers kids and parents with positive messages about their ability to create change. We believe in LOVE, PEOPLE, PLANET, and have constructed each suit with these values in mind.
We want our suits to spark joy. So we designed them as a way for parents to share messages of love and empowerment with their kids. One of our favorite details in our debut collection is the very special message, "You are so loved," inscribed on each suit just for your little babe. It’s our way of reminding girls just how special they are. Future collections will continue to share a special message that we hope will help inspire and empower your child.
